Course Description
Interpreting during pregnancy, labor, and delivery demands a high level of medical precision paired with intense emotional and physical sensitivity. In this workshop, Deaf midwife Salerno walks interpreters through the complete obstetric experience from prenatal clinical care to delivery room protocols.
Participants will review critical anatomical and physiological terminology, stage-by-stage labor progress, and medical interventions. Salerno highlights best practices for working alongside clinical birth teams, managing sightlines and lighting during active labor, and maintaining boundaries that respect patient dignity and autonomy during intimate medical procedures.
