Course Description
Educational interpreters operate in complex environments where the RID Code of Professional Conduct (CPC) frequently intersects with school district policies, teacher expectations, and IEP mandates. Led by ethics expert Dr. James Kilpatrick, this workshop tackles the gray areas and daily ethical dilemmas unique to the K-12 classroom.
Participants will analyze real-world case scenarios involving role boundaries, student independence vs. interpreter support, team conflict, and confidentiality within multi-disciplinary school teams. Dr. Kilpatrick provides a structured ethical decision-making model designed to help interpreters uphold professional standards while fostering student autonomy.
